swiss open ’09 finals

Filed under: Badminton, Sport — J Martin @ 6:27 am

lee chong wei had beaten lin dan! finally … 21-16, 21-16

quoting source52 minutes after they started what can be called as a modern classic encounter, Lee Chong Wei, MAS, had beaten Lin Dan, CHN, in straight games 21-16, 21-16. It was number 1 and 2 of the event meeting in the 2009 WBSO final, and judging by reaction from the numerous crowd they most definitely liked what they saw! And how could they not?!? There was feverish saves from both players, elegant movements all over the court, the richest variation of shots, deception, you name it, it was all there!

nice ….

bad luck …

Filed under: Daily Life, Sport — J Martin @ 9:07 pm

first, my shoes are gone, somebody took it i don’t know … i always keep it outside of my room because it’s always smelly @-@ … so i guess today someone took interest and ‘elope’ with it …

still decided to go to court though (on slippers) coz my friends wanted to borrow my rackets ….

second, on my way to court, my slippers broke off (is this even the correct word?) … luckily a friend saw me (‘tiny’ luck there) and brought me to court with his car … (he was passing) …

he let me borrow his shoes too … my luck, i thought im gonna just sit there and watch them play …

but i played bad …

sigh …

Filed under: Miscellaneous, Sport — J Martin @ 12:55 pm

i think this is due to marathon i’ve done last thursday …

didn’t really feel hurt yesterday, but today it felt so much … im almost unable to walk … ascending the stairs is the most excruciating task …

i thought yesterday’s rest was enough …

i guess i still need another day to rest and relieve this soreness …

sigh … but i think i’ll play again this afternoon …

can’t miss the chance …

and i already booked the court too … won’t let anyone else to use the court because i already paid it …

extreme all weather tennis, at open court …

this morning i played tennis with a colleague …

the court was extremely wet, slippery and dull … it rained last night … we thought the court will be dry in the morning but we’re wrong …

we played still …

to make matter worse, it rained again … light rain, on some occasion … but it didn’t stop us … we didn’t even take a break …

played from 7 to 9.30 am …

my colleague hv few times slipped on his feet …

i almost slipped too ..

it was really extreme and dangerous but kinda fun …

a hat-trick for Nicol

Nicol David claimed her third successive Qatar Classic title in Doha with a comprehensive victory over world number two Natalie Grinham, to the delight of the many Malaysian supporters in the Khalifa Squash Complex in Doha.

Natalie took the first point of the match, but Nicol quickly rallied to take a 7/1 lead, looking ominously in control. A few errors from Nicol and some determined play from Natalie closed the gap, but Nicol took the lead on her second game ball as Natalie fired a loose shot down the middle for a stroke.

Another quick start for the Malaysian in the second, 4/1, 7/2, and she was well in control, again taking the game on her second opportunity, 11/3.

The third was a repeat of the first – Nicol tinned to give away the opening point, then stormed into a 6/2 lead. Natalie was being forced to do all the retrieving and she would eventually, inevitably, throw up a loose shot for Nicol to put away. But, as in the opening game, she fought back, throwing in some lovely winners as she reduced the deficit to 7/5. She could never quite close the gap though as Nicol reached championship ball at 10/7. A dropshot and a stroke brought Natalie back to within one point, but there was nothing she could do with Nicol’s long dropshot as the crowd erupted.

That’s a third world title and a third consecutive Qatar Classic title for Nicol David inside a fortnight, ten titles already this year, and her unbeaten run now stretches to 53 matches, there’s just no stopping her …

extreme tennis …

today we decided to play tennis although the court is underwater …

yeah it felt good having some crazyheads as i am … we love tennis so much, we can play on any surface – be it dry or wet …

yesterday it was slippery, i almost slip during the play …

i know it’s a bit dangerous playing there while the court isn’t dry coz it’s hazardous (safety) but i don’t care … it’s been almost a week i didn’t exercise and im kinda desperate …

October 23, 2008

lighten up …

i felt better today … got chance to play sport, finally … the weather improved …

i played badminton and tennis for one hour respectively …

and for both games i officially use my new rackets …

i think im quite good in badminton … but still need to learn a lot obviously …

my new tennis racket felt heavier though … i was unable to serve hard as i used to do with my old 2nd racket … it’s a bit hard to swing too … but on a bright side, my hit-backs improved a lot … less out-shot, more accurate and precise …

perhaps i’ll do better in time with the new rackets, especially tennis racket … need a lot practise …
