Today’s story

Quite exciting today. I started my office time quite late even though I wake up early in the morning (as usual). It was around 10.00 AM I went to the school (office). Then after a while chatting with some friends and checking the lab, I moved myself to the library. It was around 11.00 AM then. I stayed there until 3.45 PM, before a friend called me to go back home. I didn’t take lunch because I was still full then (I ate quite big for my breakfast).

Back at home in the afternoon, my other friend (housemate) invited me to join him and his friend to go to the Megamall coz they wanted to watch a film. I agreed and we went there.

We actually played bowling before went to watch the movie. We watched Surf’s Up, an animation movie. Initially I thought they wanted to watch the Transformers but they changed their mind.

Then after that, we went to have dinner before heading back to home.

Nine lessons to become a graduate student

1. Think of your time as an apprenticeship (learn the trade of doing a research) ask questions, help the faculty
2. Choice of topic is very important, let it be something that has an emotional attachment to you (secure but exciting and quite relevant to your work)
3. Part of an establishment
4. Colloboration with supervisor
5. Brief in presentation
6. Method of research is more important than the result of the research
7. Attend colloquims, seminars etc. not only in your field of study but other areas too
8. Start becoming a professional, learn the trade
9. Life is real, accept things that happen

Now I know …

I am not a good researcher. I admit that. I often complained, I often rely too much on my advisor and I have bad communication skills.

Now I have to change it all. I need to be positive, I need to be organized and I need to be smart and independent. I really need to stop bothering my advisor even though he’s always there to help me.

But how am I going to change? It’s almost a year since I started this, and I need to prove something now.

Should I start all over again?

I am feeling better

I am feeling better now. This morning I was almost crazy as my head felt like blowing up. This morning I wrote (in my wordpad):

I am going crazy, really !!

Last night I wrote about me going crazy. Today I felt the same too, and I think I am going crazy, really. My head felt like blowing up. And I know I was acting weird lately. I know I’ve been absent-minded. Sometimes I am not aware of what I am doing. My mind wasn’t there and it’s hard for me to concentrate. I am not sure what I am thinking but I think I’ve lost my mind. Each day I felt sad and the loneliness was just killing me. I got friends but I think there’s problems inside me. What happened to me?

My nice dream last night didn’t help. And the imagination won’t help either. All I can think of now is about me being stupid and clumsy and dumb and annoying and etc. I hate myself very much. I am such useless and nerdy. I am going down. And I am nothing. There’s no good thing about me.

What am I going to do now?

But now I am better. Even though it may not as good as it used to be but I think I am alright. At least I am in control now.
