Pizza Hut for Mr Tit

Ermm .. finally I got my dinner. I haven’t eat anything proper since Friday last week. Only some fruits and instant noodles. Now I have my Hawaiian Tuna & Hawaiian Chicken pizzas. Quite affordable, only RM27.20 including tax and delivery charge.

Only they got my name so wrong. Or did they got their ear stuffed with banana or something? I thought I’ve told them my name loud and clear thru the phone (I even spelt them), but I found my name written as Mr Tit in the recipt, gosh !!~ The same mistake as they did last time.

And the given name is horrible too !!~

Bad Days?

Today’s very quiet, only few people left here. I didn’t take lunch and also dinner (did I mention I rarely take breakfast?). The cafeteria was opened but I was just too ‘lazy’ to set my foot up there (even though it’s only few meters away from our block). Actually I was just didn’t feel better to have my meals coz I didn’t even do anything besides just sitting and sleeping for the whole day. I stayed awake only for some stuffs – filling my stomach with some fruits, some instant noodle – and facing the computer – movies, chatting, reading news-online, and etc. Perhaps I am still moody since I got this bloody weird new hair cut. Damn !!~

The hair issue still gets me very much. Hmm … I am counting my bad days.

Today’s Interview

Filed under: Daily Life — J Martin @ 10:11 pm

Today’s morning I woke up feeling dizzy, last night I hardly can sleep coz I thought so much about my new weirdo haircut. Well, after so much thought about it, I decided it wasn’t a big deal anyway coz in few more weeks, my hair will gonna grow and then I can make my hair back to the old style. But some of my friends thought it’s nice. Huh? How nice? I am already mirror-phobic.

Today’s interview was quite casual. The schedule wasn’t right, I was instructed to enter the interview room sooner than I expected, quite rush it had made me nervous. Then after few minutes session with the interviewers, I finally settled up and answered their questions eagerly – well I think I did well coz I made them laugh and believe what I said. I didn’t lied but that’s the way it was.

We ended sooner (I am supposed to be the last person to be interviewed but since the person before me wasn’t there on time, I was to put forward), and then we went for lunch at one of the cafeteria nearby.

After lunch, we (three of us) decided to go to Megamall for shopping. Actually I was less enthusiast about it even though I have some money coz I only thought of going straight back to the hostel. Only this time I am not interested to mingle around (my friends always labelled me as a shopaholic person – really?). I didn’t buy anything – last night I thought of buying some caps to cover my hair, but today I just felt it’ll useless anyway. Only my friend bought some items.

Besides shopping, we had watch a movie – The Hills Have Eyes 2 – it was rated (E) – my female friend keeps closing her eyes during that time – at the end my other male friend felt guilty when I told him about it coz he was the one who decided which movie to watch. Well, actually we had two options – the latter and Hannibal Rising but both were rated (E) anyway.

At around 3.00 PM, we finished our ‘session’ at the Megamall and headed to Butterworth’s bus station to drop our female companion there. She’s going to her hometown for holiday.

We reached hostel at around 5.00 PM. So tired …

Today I got a new hair cut, looks so bad I almost wanted to wear a wig. Well, if not because of tomorrow’s interview, I will not cut my hair so short. Now I look so weird, I am sure everybody will laugh at me.
Now, the best solution is to wear a cap.

My pets?

Since I was a kid, I have kept pets such as birds, dogs, fishes and few ‘unusual’ pet such as scorpions. I love birds coz they can fly, dogs coz they can obey, fishes coz they are fun to watch (and also easy to keep), and scorpion because it’s thrilling. Birds are quite hard to ‘raise’ coz we have to nurture them until they can fly and able to find food independently. Usually I ‘raise’ the birds since they are small so that they are domesticated.

Here’s our recent family’s dog. He’s actually belongs to my sister, as she’s the one who raised him (and spend the money) since he was a little until he’s grown up as in the picture. He never sees his ‘mom’ coz he was taken to our home before he could open his eyes, alongside with his black brother. (He was adopted from somewhere). It will be quite messy whenever I ’embrace’ this dog everytime I went back home coz he’ll be jumping and jumping all over me. Sometimes I will ‘kick’ him just to throw him away, so not to ruin my clothes. Not my favourite actually coz he’s quite lazy and doesn’t listen unless he’s bribed with his favourite food. But sometimes it’s fun to play with him.
Here’s the picture of a scorpion, but this is not my pet. This is a wild scorpion I found in a way during my jungle-tekking few months ago. My scorpion-pet is already died long time ago of unknown illness. It’s quite easy to feed scorpion coz they will eat almost anything moving such as cockroaches, crickets, grasshoppers etc. But even though it’s not easy to handle, it’s still easy to feed and handling them is thrilling anyway.
Now I don’t have much time for pets although I love to have one, especially fish.

Unlucky it’s not a travelling season for me. Yeah, everybody is going home but I will stay back here as I am stuck to this ‘never-ending boring stuffs’. Yeah, I just can’t have ‘cuti-cuti Malaysia’ while I still have many things to settle. But I will not be alone here, coz there will be a few people staying here for this three months semester break (besides me). This at least, I can survive this period of ‘freaky time’ (hopefully). Yeah, my first time to be not-so-willingfully ‘stranded’ here.

It’ll be a very very long time …

Or perhaps I will change my mind and take a week or two for holiday?

Money is Money

Why I easily run out of money:
  • Lunch average of RM2.50 (very cheap), but dinner always more than RM5 (sometimes can fetch up to RM10). So total about RM7 per day (average) = RM50 per week. Standard price? But previously I can survive on RM5 per day (lunch and dinner only). However until now, I still seldom (rarely) take breakfast.
  • Other additional food – junk food, KFC, biscuits, instant mee, instant drink, sparkling, etc
  • Always go shopping – buying unnecessary things like glasses, jeans, t-shirts, other small things …
  • Night market or ‘pasar malam’ – every Friday and Sunday evenings, not less than RM10 on average
  • Other miscellaneous things … I even don’t know what I bought, but my money still runs out …

Monthly earning not more than a thousand, but I spend like crazy … stupid me.

Pasar Malam 2

It is not about what’s other interesting things you can have at the ‘pasar malam’ but it’s about the bad thing. Only just now I ‘experienced’ it for the last time. Ouch …
  • *Contaminated food – beware of the food, coz most of the food sold in ‘pasar malam’ are not safe (only just now I got stomach ache, need to rest a while in the toilet – did I mention diarrhea? But I am okay now).
  • ‘Near-expire’ fruits – Some of them sells un-fresh fruits (it’s not a big deal though, coz it won’t make you sick unless you eat it without checking)
  • Beware of snatch-thief – So far I haven’t encounter one, but if you must have to worry, there’s quite a number of policemen guarding there (most of the time)

So, here’s some suggestions before you enjoy the life of ‘pasar malam’.

  • Only buy fresh-made/cooked foods – this is to avoid contamination
  • Don’t buy drinks (this is for myself, coz I always got stomach ache whenever I bought and drink one), but there’s indeed some drinks which are safe to consume
  • Don’t buy too much, unless you have many to feed
  • List down things you wanted to buy (or at least, think what you need to buy first) – coz you will end up buying things which are not necessary (especially to myself)
  • It’s best not to buy foods during wet season – bacteria is mostly active during this time

Anyway, learn from your experiences.

*The most important thing

Tips to buy mineral water

Do you ever realize mineral water sold in the market tastes different? Some taste bad, some tasteless. Which one do you like to buy? Do you buy mineral water based on its brand or price? Or you never care? Or you never buy mineral water? Here are some of the tips you should consider when you want to buy one (based on my own experience and thought).
  • First, check out the nutrition facts. It should be there, if not, go for another brand (usually small bottles won’t have it). But in case you want the big bottle (1.5L), then it should be there. The nutrition facts is important even though it just a mineral water.
  • Check out the calcium and bicarbonate content. These two are the keys to determine its taste. Usually I won’t buy the mineral water if the calcium and bicarbonate contents are more than 50 and 150 mg/L respectively because the taste will be quite ‘bad’. Calcium and bicarbonate account most of the mineral water chemical content. Perhaps calcium and bicarbonate are important to our body but I think the taste is more important. Don’t get me wrong, coz I still need these elements from other food source such as milk. I just don’t want to ruin the taste of my drinking water.
  • Ask yourself what you expect from it. It’s either you want a real ‘mineral water’ which come from a real natural source (underground) or just a ‘tap-mineral water’ which is just plainly bottled from tap water. I think most of us don’t care about this. Many of the said ‘mineral water’ on market are bottled from tap water. You should be able to differentiate which one is the ‘true’ mineral water, and which one is the ‘tap water’. Check its source from the label. And don’t forget, some ‘mineral water’ are zero content i.e. distilled water. Be careful with that.
  • Lastly but not least, check the price. Mineral water shouldn’t be too pricey.

It’s not advisable to rely too much on mineral water if you are on medical attention. Try your best to drink your very own plain water (from home, boiled drinking water). All the best.

Pasar Malam

Things I like to buy at ‘pasar malam’ or night market nearby (which is held every Friday and Sunday evenings).

  • ‘Ayam goreng’ or fried chicken
  • Fried mee (I think I started to like fried mee since I bought my chopsticks)
  • Fruits (mango, banana, apple, orange)
  • Puffs
  • Erm … what else?

Things you will be able to find there:

  • Variety of chicken based – roasted chicken, fried chicken, ‘nasi ayam’, chicken satay, etc
  • Variety of fish based – raw fish, salted fish, roasted fish, fishballs, fishcakes, ‘keropok lekor’, etc
  • Variety of fruits – local (banana, rambutan, durians, ciku, langsat, mango, mangosteen, papaya, lime), imported (apple, grape, lemon), etc
  • Variety of ‘kuih’ and other food – kuih talam, nasi lemak, nasi tomato, nasi goreng or ‘fried rice’, fried mee, mee soup, etc
  • Variety of drinks – coconut drink, fruit juices, syrups, ice-creams, etc
  • Variety of vegetables
  • Variety of decorative plants, fruit seedlings
  • Variety of toys
  • Variety of other things …

I wish I had taken pictures of all these things.

Hmm … Let’s go to ‘pasar malam’.
